      My images are loading very slowly, and from a network inspection it seems that the image file cancels loading, and then fetches the image a second time, this time specifying the resolution. This is slowing down my page load time by about 4 seconds. Here is my url:

      Is there any way to prevent this double loading of images and increase loading speed?

      I found that the issue was being caused by an image plugin, Adaptive Images for WordPress. By updating the plugin to 0.6.63 the problem was solved. Thank you.
